SUN 01 NOV 2026 CRIME

Eight to ten masked men stormed a Halloween party at a community centre on James Close in Plaistow, east London, and stabbed an 18-year-old man multiple times, the Metropolitan Police said. The attack happened at around 7.45pm on Wednesday, 28 October. The victim suffered stab wounds to his torso and arms. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but is now stable, police said. The force said his injuries are believed to be life-changing. Scotland Yard has launched an investigation into the stabbing, which detectives are treating as attempted murder.

Officers said a large number of young people fled the party when the stabbing happened. No arrests have been made so far. Detective Inspector Sam Lockstone, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are grateful to those who have come forward so far." He said it was "really important" that those who fled contact police and offer any information that could help the inquiry. Lockstone added: "The victim was subject to a violent attack, and we want to know if you have any video footage taken during or after the party or witnessed anything that could help with our investigation."

Police are appealing to anyone with information, witnesses or footage from the party to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference CAD 6525/28OCT26. Information can also be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or through its website. The Metropolitan Police has not said whether any suspects have been identified. The inquiry into the stabbing in Plaistow continues.
