EMERGENCY SERVICES ATTEND FLOODING AROUND SALTCOATS CARE HOME

MON 26 OCT 2026

Emergency services attended flooding around a care home on Sidney Street in Saltcoats after police received a report on Sunday evening, 25 October. Police Scotland said officers were working with partner agencies to make the area safe. The force said: “Everyone within the care home has been accounted for and every effort is being made to ensure their safety.” Police Scotland did not identify the care home by name in its statement about the response.

Police Scotland announced road closures on Sidney Street, where the care home stands. Winton Circus was also closed as emergency crews attended the flooding nearby. The Braes was among the roads closed during the response. The closures also covered Melbourne Road, bringing the number of named roads to four. Advice issued during the response urged people to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the flooding.

Police Scotland said officers would remain at the scene overnight to assist. The force did not give a cause for the flooding or an assessment of damage to the care home. It did not state how many people were inside when police received the report. Police Scotland also gave no time for reopening the four roads around the home.
