SUNDERLAND AND LEEDS SHARE GOALLESS DRAW

Sunderland and Leeds United drew 0-0 at the Stadium of Light, leaving Sunderland at the foot of the Premier League table. Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris called the point positive after his side's defeat at Bournemouth in their previous league match. “We struggled, we are struggling a little bit,” he said of Sunderland's attacking play. Le Bris said his players avoided the unforced errors they had made in recent games. He said Sunderland created chances but did not do enough to win.

Le Bris said Sunderland had scored six goals in their first eight league matches of the season. Sunderland did not seriously threaten Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford during the draw. Luke O'Nien played in the centre of Sunderland's defence, while Nordi Mukiele left the pitch during the second half. Le Bris said Mukiele was “OK - no problem” after he went off. O'Nien said swirling wind affected both teams and credited their defences with keeping the match goalless.

Sunderland entered the match after a 1-1 Europa League draw with Lech Poznan in Poland. Le Bris said the schedule also includes Carabao Cup football, which presents a new challenge for his side. He said Sunderland have another game on Wednesday, followed by a match against Coventry. O'Nien said the team wanted three points and needed to focus on its own performances. Le Bris said consistency remained a priority as Sunderland worked to improve.
