BBC REPORTS CELEBRITY TRAITORS LAUNCH DREW 15.7 MILLION VIEWERS

SAT 24 OCT 2026

The BBC says 15.7 million people watched the launch episode of The Celebrity Traitors within seven days of its release. It recorded 15.2 million viewers for the second episode over the same period. According to the BBC, the launch drew the largest audience for an opening episode across the celebrity and civilian versions of The Traitors. The broadcaster also says it was the biggest launch for any scripted or unscripted television series since at least 2022.

The BBC’s seven-day figure for the new launch exceeds the 14.8 million viewers it recorded over 28 days for the previous Celebrity Traitors series opener. According to the broadcaster, BBC iPlayer accounted for 58% of viewing across the first two episodes, with 8.9 million views. The BBC says 3.1 million viewers aged 16 to 34 watched the launch, its largest audience in that age group for the programme. Claudia Winkleman welcomed 21 contestants to the Traitors castle for a game in which the Faithful try to identify and banish the Traitors. The contestants are competing to win up to £100,000 for their chosen charities.

Studio Lambert Scotland produces The Celebrity Traitors for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The BBC says the series will conclude on Friday 30 October at 8pm on both services. Kalpna Patel-Knight commissioned the programme for the BBC, with Neil McCallum and Michael Jochnowitz serving as commissioning editors. The Traitors is a Banijay Entertainment format.
