INDIANA FEVER FIRE AMBER COX AND PART WAYS WITH KELLY KRAUSKOPF
The Indiana Fever fired Amber Cox as general manager and chief operating officer. The franchise parted ways with team president Kelly Krauskopf on the same day. Meghan L. Hall reported that a person with direct knowledge expected head coach Stephanie White to remain in her role. Annie Costabile also cited a person familiar with the discussions who expected White to stay.
Indiana hired White as head coach in 2024, after she had served on its coaching staff during the franchise’s first and only WNBA championship in 2012. Her appointment initially drew a favourable response from supporters. White and Caitlin Clark had several tense on-court exchanges during the 2026 season. During a 30 May game against the Portland Fire, they exchanged words in a bench huddle before White substituted Raven Johnson for Clark. Kelsey Mitchell and Makayla Timpson appeared to try to calm Clark, who shook her head behind White.
Indiana did not reach the WNBA playoff semi-finals in 2026. Some supporters called for White to step down during the season, while White and Clark both pushed back against suggestions that their relationship had broken down. An Underdog WNBA post about White’s expected retention drew further calls for a coaching change. One supporter wrote: “White is the biggest problem with that team! They cannot let her stay!”
