BRITT MCHENRY REPORTEDLY LEAVES US GOVERNMENT ROLE

Britt McHenry reportedly resigned from a Trump administration press role on Thursday, 22 October, after footage showed her throwing a drink towards spectators at an NBA game. The confrontation took place during the Washington Wizards’ home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks at Capital One Arena in Washington the previous evening. Footage showed a spectator throwing a drink towards McHenry before she threw one back. The Wizards won the game 128–116.

The dispute began after spectators near McHenry heckled Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma and made insulting remarks about his fiancée, model Winnie Harlow, according to accounts of the confrontation. McHenry reportedly asked one spectator to ease up. Accounts said a man then directed misogynistic remarks at McHenry and threw a drink towards her. Spectators booed as McHenry left the seating area, and footage showed her blowing kisses towards the crowd. Accounts differ on whether she left voluntarily or staff escorted her out.

McHenry had reportedly received a promotion the day before her departure to lead external affairs and press for Under Secretary Jacob Helberg’s team. She previously worked as an ESPN correspondent and later appeared on Fox News and Fox Nation. Washington YouTuber Andrew Fenichel, who stood beside McHenry during the confrontation, said: “Britt is not my girlfriend. There’s no romantic history there at all. Britt and I are just friends.” The State Department declined to comment on the full circumstances of her departure or why she left the game early.
