LIONS END VIKINGS' UNBEATEN NFL START WITH 19-15 WIN

MON 02 NOV 2026 US SPORTS

The Minnesota Vikings lost their unbeaten NFL record in week eight of the 2026 season, beaten 19-15 by the Detroit Lions. The result ended Minnesota's 6-0 start and moved Detroit to 5-2. Elsewhere, the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Cardinals in overtime, while the Kansas City Chiefs were beaten by the Broncos, who stopped them at the goal line. The Cincinnati Bengals won again as quarterback Joe Burrow was involved in six touchdowns, including a scoring run in overtime. The Baltimore Ravens lost 36-10 to the Buffalo Bills and lost two quarterbacks to injury.

Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs gained 153 yards and scored a touchdown in Detroit's win. Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was taken to hospital with a neck injury after tackling Minnesota tight end TJ Hockenson in the fourth quarter. Two-time Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson injured his right thumb on Baltimore's first snap, just three games after returning from an ankle injury. Backup Tyler Huntley was then ruled out in the second quarter with a toe injury, leaving undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano to finish the game at quarterback. The defeat left Baltimore with a 4-4 record and a third straight loss.

Jerry Jones responded to the Cowboys' overtime loss by saying: "It's an indictment of the whole show." The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won without completing a single pass, relying entirely on their running game. The Cardinals won in overtime on a field goal from Chad Ryland, and the Raiders' Dylan Laube returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. The Ravens are due to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, with Jackson set to undergo surgery and expected to miss the rest of the season.
