HARRIET PHILLIPS DESCRIBES LIFE IN ROYAL FAMILY AFTER MARRYING PETER PHILLIPS
Harriet Phillips, a former NHS nurse, has married Peter Phillips, Princess Anne's eldest son and 20th in line to the throne. In her first interview since the wedding, she said she can turn to the Princess of Wales, Catherine, for advice as she settles into royal life. The couple married on 6 June before the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Accounts differ on the venue, describing it as both a small Cotswolds church and Princess Anne's Gatcombe estate in Gloucestershire. "I can look to Catherine for advice and guidance," Phillips said. "She's very open-hearted, and I would always feel comfortable asking her if I needed advice about something."
Phillips met Peter in early 2022 after her daughter, Georgina, joined the same hockey team as his daughters, Savannah and Isla. She is now stepmother to both girls. She recalled meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales for the first time while on holiday together in the Scilly Isles. "It was great because the children were all jumping into the water at the same time," she said. "It was very casual but there is a clear level of respect there."
Phillips described having tea with Princess Anne at Gatcombe before meeting the King and Queen at Ascot alongside her daughter. She called that meeting "lovely and relaxed," with "lots of laughter," adding that it felt "as though you're meeting family" while also feeling "otherworldly." The wedding has brought Phillips global recognition as part of one of the world's most prominent royal families. The interview, conducted in Gloucestershire, the county where she grew up, marked her first-ever photoshoot.
