LEARJET CRASH IN FLORIDA MOBILE HOME PARK KILLS NINE
A business jet crashed into a mobile home community in Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday, 1 November 2026, killing all nine people aboard. The Learjet 60, registered N722BD, had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was travelling to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas when it crashed near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in Palm Beach County. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that all nine occupants had died. Accounts give the time of impact as between 12.50pm and 1pm local time. The crash triggered a large fireball, damaging nearby homes and power lines.
In the final radio exchange, a crew member reported an "overspeed condition", telling controllers the jet was descending at 20,000 feet per minute, then 22,000 feet per minute, while banking 60 degrees. "We're going to crash into the ground," she said, moments before the transmission ended. The controller replied, "I'm here with you, talk to me." Earlier, the pilot had reported moderate turbulence and "light, clear ice that is manageable" to the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Centre. The jet, registered to LR60271 LLC of Wilmington, Delaware, was valued at around $2 million and clipped a tree before hitting the ground, leaving a crater.
The cause of the crash has not been established, and the recordings give no indication of what triggered the descent. The crash site lies in Greenacres, a community of modular and mobile homes in Palm Beach County, roughly nine miles from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. It is also about four miles south of an airport in West Palm Beach. Authorities have not released the identities of those killed or given a timeline for completing the investigation.
