HARRY KANE MISSES PENALTY AS BAYERN MUNICH DRAW WITH DORTMUND
Harry Kane missed a penalty as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga's Der Klassiker fixture at the Allianz Arena. Konrad Laimer put Bayern ahead in the 38th minute, moments after Dortmund's Jobe Bellingham had a goal ruled out. Kane won a penalty just after the hour mark but missed it, and Serhou Guirassy equalised for Dortmund shortly afterwards. Dayot Upamecano restored Bayern's lead in the 66th minute, with Kane supplying the assist. Substitute Fábio Silva then scored in the 89th minute to complete the 2-2 draw.
The miss came days after Kane received the Ballon d'Or as the world's best player at a ceremony in London on Monday. Bayern suffered further setbacks as Ballon d'Or nominee Michael Olise, midfielder Ismael Saibari and forward Serge Gnabry all left the pitch during the match. Bayern's medical staff helped Saibari off the pitch after he injured his leg in a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, the two having tangled as Saibari challenged for a rebound after Kobel saved his shot. Nathaniel Brown replaced him, and Josip Stanisic came on for Gnabry two minutes later. Olise signalled for a substitution late in the game after lying down holding his face.
The draw preserved Dortmund's unbeaten record in the Bundesliga and prevented Bayern from moving clear at the top of the table. Bayern have won five and drawn three of their league matches this season. Dortmund have an identical record, leaving the two clubs level on 18 points apiece. No details emerged on the severity of the injuries to Saibari, Olise and Gnabry.
