SELMA BLAIR APOLOGISES AFTER FLIGHT ASSAULT CHARGES
Selma Blair apologised in an Instagram video posted on 30 October, her first public comments since an incident on a flight on 11 October. She faces two charges of second-degree assault involving a police officer and a nurse and has pleaded not guilty. “To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, I frightened, that I alarmed, I am so sorry,” Blair said. She said she had stayed quiet because her lawyers asked her not to discuss the day while the legal case continues. Blair also said she had never intended to hurt or frighten anyone.
Blair was arrested after allegations that she punched and bit flight attendants on a Delta flight to New York’s JFK Airport. She was later accused of kicking the police officer and the nurse while receiving medical attention. A court set bail at $20,000 and scheduled her next appearance for 19 January 2027. Blair said she took the matter seriously. She thanked people who had contacted her in support since the incident.
Blair’s representative said a severe medical emergency had led to her alleged behaviour. Blair said she would focus on her health and her son, Arthur Saint Bleick. She also told viewers that Scout, the service dog who accompanied her on the flight, was doing well. Blair received a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018 and got Scout, a Labrador, as a service dog five years ago. The legal case remains ongoing.
