ANTHONY DURKAN RECEIVES FOUR-YEAR SENTENCE FOR VOYEURISM
Anthony Durkan has been jailed for four years after admitting 26 charges of voyeurism involving women in north London. Snaresbrook Crown Court sentenced him on Wednesday. The Metropolitan Police said Durkan filmed through the windows of women’s homes in Islington, with evidence of offending dating back to January 2020. Officers arrested him in March 2026 after spotting him approach a home during an overnight patrol. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger called his offending a “calculated and deeply intrusive campaign”.
Police began dedicated patrols after two women reported that someone had filmed through their windows. One woman contacted officers in January 2026 after a neighbour told her a man had repeatedly visited her home in the early hours. Another woman reported seeing a man record through her window in March; she confronted him, and he ran away. Security footage from the reported incidents showed a man dressed in dark clothing, according to police. Officers in an unmarked car saw Durkan approach another address on the first night of patrols.
Police said a hidden gallery on Durkan’s mobile phone contained images and videos of women who did not know they were being filmed. Officers found 99 images and 162 videos on his devices and linked some material to offences dating from January 2020. Detectives also reviewed earlier crime reports in which officers had identified no suspect. Police said they were still working to establish how many women appeared in the material. Detectives have asked anyone else who thinks Durkan may have filmed them to come forward.
