TUE 27 OCT 2026

Karen and David Cozens, from Minehead, died when their Mazda Bongo collided with a Volvo lorry on the A358 in Combe Florey, Somerset. Emergency services responded to the collision near Taunton at about 6.40am on 30 September. Medics attended, but both died at the scene. Their families later paid tribute to them. Karen’s family said: “They were both loved by their family and by everyone around them.”

Karen’s family said the couple enjoyed camping trips, banger racing and walking their dogs. The family wished they had had more time with their grandchildren. They described Karen as a friend to many who had “a heart of gold”. David’s son Matthew said his father put his family first and took pride in his children and grandchildren. Matthew called him “the jolliest of blokes” and said he always had a smile for others.

Karen’s family thanked the emergency services and air ambulance for their response. They also thanked three members of the public who tried to help the couple immediately after the collision. “It won’t be forgotten,” the family said of that help. Matthew said the memories he shared with David would remain with him. He added that he missed his father and believed he had been reunited with his parents.
