UGANDAN FORCES ARREST MOSES MUJURIZI OVER 38 ALLEGED KILLINGS
Ugandan security forces have arrested Moses Mujurizi, whom Muhoozi Kainerugaba accused of killing and eating 38 people between 2010 and 2025. Kainerugaba named Masaka, Ibanda and Kazo as the locations of the alleged killings in a statement on X on Monday evening. “We will try him in public and definitely execute him,” Kainerugaba wrote. The statement did not give a date for a trial.
Earlier police records identified a suspect named Fred Mujulizi, also known as Kulaish Kamugisha, in connection with killings in Greater Masaka. The available accounts do not establish whether Fred Mujulizi and Moses Mujurizi are the same person. In 2013, Godfrey Musana, then Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations, described Fred Mujulizi as dangerous and said he travelled by motorbike. Investigators alleged that attackers linked to Mujulizi drilled through house walls before assaulting occupants with machetes. One alleged attack targeted the home of Pentecostal pastor Steven Mugambe, where the attackers reportedly killed everyone inside.
A previous account put the number killed in similar attacks across Greater Masaka at as many as 35, but that figure was not officially verified. That figure covers attacks described in the earlier investigation; Kainerugaba’s allegation of 38 deaths covers three districts over 15 years. Members of the public have alleged that the arrested suspect killed their relatives, and police say investigators are reviewing those claims. Kainerugaba said authorities would hold a public trial, but his statement provided no details of any charges or court proceedings.
