DAVID MOULTON DIES AFTER SIX YEARS WITH KANCER
Julie Moulton said her husband, David Moulton, died on Friday night while in hospice care at the Douglas Centre for Caring. She announced his death on Saturday, 24 October. Julie said he had lived with stage four renal cell cancer for six years. Moulton worked with Troy Aikman in NFL broadcast booths. Aikman wrote that Moulton had been his “right-hand man in the broadcast booth” since 2018.
Moulton publicly discussed his diagnosis in 2020 after doctors found a large cancerous tumour around his kidney. He underwent surgery to remove his left kidney and initially reported encouraging results. Julie said the cancer spread to his bones two years before his death. She said he continued to try new treatments throughout his illness. Aikman and Joe Buck mentioned Moulton’s health during a Commanders-49ers game the previous week.
Aikman said his working relationship with Moulton developed into a friendship he cherished. Announcer Tim Brando said he had spoken with Moulton a few weeks before his death. Brando said Aikman had told him Moulton would contact him, and described Moulton as “extra eyes” for Aikman in the booth. Brando said Moulton had also worked with Gary Danielson at CBS Sports for many years. Julie thanked those who had supported her husband during his illness.
