GWENT POLICE ARREST TWO PEOPLE OVER NURSERY NEGLECT ALLEGATIONS

Gwent Police said officers have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of child neglect at a nursery in Blackwood, Wales. The force said it launched the investigation after receiving information from Caerphilly County Borough Council. Police identified the nursery’s location as Bridge Street but did not name the premises. The man is from Cardiff and the woman is from the Caerphilly area, according to the force.

Detective Inspector Gavin Wilkes said police were working with partner agencies on the investigation. He said: “We understand that allegations of this nature are upsetting and working with partner agencies, we are conducting a thorough investigation.” Wilkes acknowledged that social media posts about the case were circulating and urged people not to speculate or publish anything online that could affect enquiries. He asked anyone with information that might help investigators to report it directly to police.

Gwent Police said officers continue to carry out enquiries at the nursery. The force advised people nearby to expect an increased police presence in the surrounding area. Anyone with information can contact police on 101, online or through a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2600359497.
