MOTOROLA ANNOUNCES SIGNATURE 27 MOBILE PHONE FOR US MARKET
Motorola has announced the Signature 27, a non-folding mobile phone that brings its Signature range to the US. The company puts the starting price at $1,599, approximately $1,600, with availability later this month. Motorola says the handset includes 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, with no higher-memory option. The device uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which Motorola previewed earlier this year.
Motorola lists a 6.8-inch tandem OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 12,000 nits. The company specifies a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 90W wired charging and 15W Qi wireless charging. The handset lacks built-in Qi2 magnets and carries IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings. Motorola offers Coal Smoke and Capulet Olive colours, describing their textured polycarbonate backs as “tactical weave” and “textile-inspired”, respectively. Camera descriptions differ over the 50-megapixel sensors’ functions, while both identify a 200-megapixel telephoto camera.
Motorola says the Signature 27 will support the privacy-focused GrapheneOS operating system, a first for the company. The handset also includes audio designed by Bang & Olufsen. Motorola’s Action Shot feature uses an event-based vision sensor that measures changes in light at pixel level to track moving subjects. The company says Action Shot activates automatically when the phone detects substantial movement in the frame, and users can also activate it manually.
