JIMMY KIMMEL MOCKS TRUMP OVER MIDTERM ELECTION RESULTS

THU 05 NOV 2026 INTERNATIONAL

Jimmy Kimmel used his ABC show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, to react to the US midterm results, describing a "blue tsunami" that gave Democrats control of the House. He cited a Harvard model putting Republicans' odds of keeping the House at the same level as rolling a 20 on a 20-sided die, joking "somebody at Harvard wanted to let us know they play Dungeons & Dragons." He highlighted Jon Ossoff's re-election to his Georgia Senate seat and Keisha Lance Bottoms becoming the first Black woman elected state governor. James Talarico won a Senate race in Texas, which Kimmel said ended a 38-year drought for Democrats.

Kimmel referenced Donald Trump's remarks about Nicki Minaj and Jon Husted at a rally in Michigan, joking that "the only ass on Trump's mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him by America." He said word from inside the White House was that Trump had "run out of dipping sauce containers to throw at the television set" as the results came in. Kimmel joked that Talarico "might have to carpool with Ted Cruz starting in January." Nate Silver and Nate Cohn had predicted a Democratic wave before the vote.

Kimmel's comments followed a Fox News interview in which Trump claimed a 99% approval rating in Israel and said he could move there and become prime minister if the US "got tired" of him. "That might be the best idea he's ever had," Kimmel said, adding that Trump's approval rating in the US was "terrible." He joked that voters were "unsatisfied with the job he is doing," comparing it to Trump's relationships. Kimmel's show aired as Democrats were confirmed to have taken Congress.
