MAYA JAMA TIPPED FOR ROLE IN NEXT JAMES BOND FILM
Maya Jama has emerged as a contender for a role in the next James Bond film after abseiling from a helicopter during The Celebrity Traitors' final challenge. The Love Island presenter said she used the stunt to catch the eye of casting decision-makers: "I was lowkey trying to appeal for a Bond role." "Like, you know what, maybe if the right person sees I can hang out of helicopters, I might get an acting gig," she added. Bookmaker William Hill has priced her at 7/1 for the franchise's leading lady role, fifth in the betting behind Margaret Qualley, Sydney Sweeney, Anya Taylor-Joy and Florence Pugh.
Jama, who played Aisha in Netflix's The Gentlemen, spent most of the series posing undetected as a Traitor. She was voted out at the Round Table by fellow Traitor King Kenny during the final, filmed at Scotland's Ardross Castle. She said: "I obviously love Kenny to bits. I think he's amazing. And he didn't really have much of a choice, so it didn't hurt as much." Jama, a self-described thrill-seeker who has been skydiving, said her poker face throughout the series could help her acting prospects too: "They can see I can do a poker face, so hopefully that adds to the CV."
Final auditions are reported to be under way for the next actor to play James Bond, following Daniel Craig's exit from the role. Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor are reportedly under consideration, along with a fourth actor. It is not clear whether Jama's comments relate to that casting process or a separate role in the franchise. William Hill's odds reflect speculation about the casting rather than any confirmed decision.
