TRUMP APPROVAL RATING STANDS AT 38% IN MIDTERM EXIT POLL
Polls have begun closing in the US midterm elections, with the results expected to shape the remainder of Donald Trump's second term. An exit poll of voters found his job approval rating at 38%, against 61% who disapprove, a figure North America correspondent Anthony Zurcher described as "decidedly underwater".
The poll found the economy is the issue most on voters' minds, with concerns about political corruption also ranking high. Zurcher said the findings track closely with recent public polling, and may offer some reassurance to Democrats who had feared earlier forecasts of a strong result were inaccurate.
