BELLA MACLEAN SAYS SHE SET NO-NUDITY CLAUSE FOR RIVALS
Bella Maclean has said she included a no-nudity clause in her contract for the Disney+ drama Rivals. Maclean plays Taggie O'Hara in the series, which is set in the world of independent television in 1986. She told Harper's Bazaar that the decision was linked to how she wanted to portray her character. "It was important because of how pure Taggie's character was," she said. "I didn't want to sexually exploit her, and I didn't want to do that to myself either."
Rivals follows a rivalry between Lord Tony Baddingham, played by David Tennant, and former MP Rupert Campbell-Black, played by Alex Hassell. Maclean said the clause reflected a boundary she intends to maintain. "That was really important to me, and I think it will stay important to me," she said. "There are some things I just want to keep to myself." The remarks were made in an interview with Harper's Bazaar.
Maclean's comments have been reported alongside other coverage of the cast of Rivals, which streams on Disney+. No further detail on production arrangements or other cast members' contractual terms has been made public. Maclean has not given any further interviews elaborating on the clause beyond the remarks to Harper's Bazaar. No additional statement from Disney+ or the show's producers has been reported in connection with the clause.
