UAE SAYS IT HOPES FOR IRAN-US BREAKTHROUGH, BRACED FOR WORST

Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, said at the IISS Manama Dialogue in Bahrain that the UAE hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough in negotiations between Iran and the United States. "We're hoping that there is a diplomatic breakthrough," Gargash said, adding that "it is not the interest of the region to go through another round" of conflict.

Gargash added that the UAE is "braced for the worst" and would take measures to protect itself and its citizens.
