GRANDSTAND COLLAPSE INJURES THREE AT GOLD COAST MUSIC FESTIVAL

SUN 01 NOV 2026

A temporary grandstand collapsed during a sold-out music festival on Queensland's Gold Coast, injuring three people. The structure gave way on Coolangatta Beach during the Red Hot Summer Tour on Sunday afternoon. It collapsed at around 2.50pm, while Australian rock band Boom Crash Opera was performing on stage. Queensland Police confirmed that three people were hurt in the collapse. Officers remained at the scene in the aftermath.

Police said the three injuries from the collapse were minor. The grandstand had been erected temporarily on the beach for festival-goers watching the performance. It was not immediately clear how many people were on the stand when it gave way. Coolangatta Beach, at the southern end of the Gold Coast, was serving as the venue for the festival performance at the time.

Queensland Police had not confirmed what caused the grandstand to collapse. It also remained unclear whether other performances at the Gold Coast event were affected by the collapse. Further information about the circumstances was expected to follow as police continued to assess the scene. No arrests or charges had been reported in connection with the collapse.
