BOND FANS NAME JOE ALWYN AS POSSIBLE FOURTH SCREEN TEST CANDIDATE
Callum Turner, Josh O’Connor and Jack Lowden have been named as candidates for screen tests to play James Bond. Claims about the casting process also mention a fourth actor, whose identity remains undisclosed. Some fans have suggested Joe Alwyn could be that person. Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed the actors involved in the screen tests. It has not announced who will succeed Daniel Craig in the role.
Craig last played Bond in No Time To Die, which came out in 2021. Lowden plays River Cartwright alongside Gary Oldman in Apple TV’s Slow Horses. Turner’s credits include Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, The Boys in the Boat and Masters of the Air. O’Connor appeared in The Crown and Challengers. His theatre commitments in London have also prompted questions about his availability for Bond.
Fans discussing Alwyn’s possible involvement have pointed to his previous work with casting director Nina Gold. One Reddit user wrote of Gold’s connection with Alwyn: “She knows him as far back as drama school”. Alwyn dated Taylor Swift for six years until 2023. Other actors linked to the Bond role include Jacob Elordi, Theo James, Idris Elba and James Norton. No announcement from Amazon MGM Studios has established whether Alwyn or any of the other named actors took part in a screen test.
