EAGLES CLEAR SAQUON BARKLEY TO FACE COMMANDERS
The Philadelphia Eagles removed Saquon Barkley from their final injury report on Friday, leaving him available for Sunday night’s game against the Washington Commanders. Barkley took part in Friday’s practice on a limited basis after missing Thursday’s session. Philadelphia listed him as a non-participant for Wednesday’s walkthrough, when the team estimated players’ practice status. DeVonta Smith will miss a second consecutive game with a hamstring injury after sitting out practice all week.
Barkley returned against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday after missing two games with a hamstring injury. He played 10 snaps in the Eagles’ loss, recording seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown, plus two receptions for nine yards. Barkley said his back locked up because he had compensated for his injured hamstring. Accounts of what curtailed his appearance differ between that back problem and an aggravated hamstring. Barkley said he would need to manage his injuries during Sunday’s game.
Philadelphia also ruled out receiver Dontayvion Wicks with an ankle injury, linebacker Jihaad Campbell with hamstring and quadriceps injuries, receiver Britain Covey with a knee injury, and cornerback Jonathan Jones with a hamstring injury. Wicks will miss his second consecutive game. Cornerback Jakorian Bennett is questionable with a knee injury. The Eagles removed Jalyx Hunt and Moro Ojomo from the injury report after both took part in limited practice throughout the week. Barkley said he wanted to provide a “spark” through his play and leadership.
