JAMES ACASTER ADMITS TRAITOR ROLE AT CELEBRITY TRAITORS ROUNDTABLE
James Acaster told fellow contestants on BBC's Celebrity Traitors that he was a traitor during Thursday's roundtable. He said he had not wanted the role when he joined the traitors, shortly before the series final. “I was made a traitor without wanting to be,” he told the group. Acaster said he had tried to play the game as faithfully as he could. His admission came as contestants examined who had taken part in the game's murder of Ross Kemp in plain sight earlier in the series.
The discussion focused on Acaster, Maya Jama and King Kenny as contestants considered Kemp's elimination. Jama and Kenny were also traitors, and both faced questions at the roundtable for the first time. The programme asks contestants known as Faithfuls to identify traitors, who remove players from the game. Thursday's episode also showed Joanne McNally's banishment and Sharon Rooney's murder within the game. The Traitors Oath requires players to keep their own identities and those of fellow traitors secret.
The second series began on 1 October with Jama and Richard E Grant selected as traitors. Grant became the first traitor banished from the castle that series. Contestants compete for up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice. In the previous series, Nick Mohammed voted to banish Joe Marler at the final roundtable. Alan Carr avoided detection and won £87,500 for Neuroblastoma UK.
