LAUREN BAILEY MOURNS HUSBAND ALLEN BAILEY

Lauren Bailey has spoken publicly for the first time since the death of her husband, former NFL player Allen Bailey. She posted an Instagram Story on 28 October, eight days after his death. “I still can’t even say the words out loud,” she wrote. She thanked people who had sent messages, flowers and food, and said her family was devastated. Allen Bailey’s brother, Alford Bailey Jr, said Lauren found him dead at their home in Florida.

Alford Bailey Jr said the family believed Allen Bailey died of natural causes. Lauren described her husband as her soulmate and wrote that she was grateful for their life together. She said her faith had helped her cope with his death. Lauren also shared a photograph of Allen on a beach and invited people who wished to send flowers to contact her. She wrote that he “will be missed by EVERYONE”.

Allen Bailey played for the Miami Hurricanes for four years before the Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft. He spent eight years with the Chiefs, then joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2019 and played two seasons there. Career figures cited for Bailey list 22 sacks and 248 combined tackles across 133 regular-season games. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid remembered him as one of his favourite players. Patrick Mahomes called Bailey a “glue guy” who helped hold the Chiefs together.
