PROSECUTORS ACCUSE ANTHONY WILLIAMS OF 14 ATTEMPTED MURDERS
Prosecutors at Cambridge Crown Court accused Anthony Williams of attempting to murder 14 people during knife attacks in Peterborough, London and on a train in 2025. Williams, of Langford Road in Peterborough, denies all 14 counts. Christopher Paxton KC said Williams stabbed 10 people on a London-bound LNER train on 1 November, before it made an emergency stop at Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Jurors watched CCTV footage of passenger Stephen Crean trying to wrestle a knife from Williams. Paxton said Williams asked Crean, “Do you want to die?”
The prosecution said Williams attacked three people in Peterborough on 31 October. Paxton told jurors that Williams stabbed a boy on a footbridge near Henry Penn Walk, then lunged at Dawid Taborski with a knife. He said Williams later tried to stab William Ogelby in the chest at the Railworld car park. In the early hours of 1 November, Williams stabbed Isaiah Idris in the face and hand on a Docklands Light Railway train at Pontoon Dock, the court heard. The train attack took place later that evening, after Williams boarded at Peterborough.
The attempted murder charges concerning the LNER train also name Jonathan Gjoshe, Sachin Balakrishnan, David Presland, Scott Bletcher, Scott Green, Kevin Deely, Raza Aslam, Michael Paffett and Samir Zitouni. Paxton said the train attack lasted about five minutes. Williams admits intending to harm those he attacked, the court heard. Jurors must decide whether he intended to kill them, as the prosecution alleges.
