MALIK BEASLEY PLANS GUILTY PLEA IN GAMBLING CASE

WED 28 OCT 2026 US SPORTS

Malik Beasley plans to plead guilty in a federal case involving betting on his basketball performances. His attorney, Steve Haney, confirmed that Beasley intends to enter the plea on 9 December. Prosecutors charged Beasley in June, and he initially pleaded not guilty. The planned hearing has not yet taken place, and no sentence has been announced.

Prosecutors allege that Beasley manipulated his statistics in at least four games for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2023–24 NBA season. They say the scheme involved advance information about his intended performance that associates could use to bet on his individual statistics. The allegations concern wagers on player performances rather than game results. Prosecutors also charged former NBA player Ed Davis in the case.

Beasley spent nine seasons in the NBA and finished second in voting for the Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2024–25 season. A proposed $42 million contract was withdrawn after the gambling case came to light. The terms of any plea agreement have not been disclosed. Beasley is due to change his plea formally at the December hearing.
