JAY-Z HEADLINES 2027 SUPER BOWL HALF-TIME SHOW
The NFL has confirmed Jay-Z as the headliner of the 2027 Super Bowl half-time show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on 14 February. The announcement aired during Monday’s Dallas Cowboys–Philadelphia Eagles game. A black-and-white clip showed Jay-Z seated among goats in an empty stadium, with one goat on his lap. It ended with the words “GOAT’s out of the bag”. Jay-Z said: “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey.”
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, founded Roc Nation in 2008. The company has worked with the NFL to produce the half-time show and help select performers for several years. Previous performers during the partnership have included Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre and Rihanna. The prospect of Jay-Z performing prompted some fans to question his involvement in choosing the act. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he had asked Jay-Z to perform when the league first reached its agreement with Roc Nation.
“I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said. In January 2024, Jay-Z said he had held back because he thought choosing himself too early would be selfish. “Maybe one year. Maybe,” he said at the time. In his announcement, Jay-Z described the performance as the culmination of “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage.”
