CLARKSON SEEKS COUNCIL APPROVAL FOR PUB CAR PARK WORK
Jeremy Clarkson says he is waiting for West Oxfordshire District Council to respond to his request to lay hard standing in a field used as his pub’s car park. He wants to spread crushed material over the ground before winter rain makes it muddy. Clarkson said someone offered him a large quantity of the material during the summer. He says the delay could prevent him from using it.
Clarkson said he had contacted the council repeatedly about the work. “We’ve rung. We’ve begged. We’ve pleaded,” he wrote. He said customers would carry mud from the car park onto roads throughout the winter if he could not complete the work. He also said he was waiting to hear what the council would allow him to do at his Diddly Squat farm shop.
Clarkson said nearly 300 people work across his businesses and want to know whether their jobs are secure. His previous planning disputes with West Oxfordshire District Council have featured on the Amazon Prime series *Clarkson’s Farm*. The council rejected his application for a new car park and restaurant at Diddly Squat farm in 2022. A later proposal to improve parking at the farm faced further hurdles if the changes did not qualify as an established lawful use.
