SARAH STOREY REVEALS SON'S TYPE 1 DIABETES DIAGNOSIS
Dame Sarah Storey has said her son Charlie has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. In a video posted on Instagram, Storey said Charlie had entered hospital a few days earlier and had very high blood pressure. She said her daughter Louisa received the same diagnosis 12 months ago. Storey also said her husband, Barney Storey, has Type 1 diabetes.
Storey shared the update after leaving the BBC dance programme Strictly Come Dancing. She and dance partner Julian Caillon lost a dance-off against Bethany Anthonia last week. Storey and Caillon performed a tango to Shania Twain’s *That Don’t Impress Me Much* in the dance-off. Storey married Barney Storey in 2007, and they have two children, Charlie and Louisa.
The NHS describes Type 1 diabetes as a condition in which the body cannot make insulin. Storey said Charlie had already begun giving himself injections and calculating the doses. “He’s already doing the injections himself, working out the dosages so it’s quite remarkable just how resilient he has been,” she said. Storey said she had returned home to support him as he adjusted to daily injections. In a later post, she said Charlie was planning the rest of his half-term holiday.
