INDIANA BEATS MICHIGAN 13-6 IN OVERTIME

MON 26 OCT 2026 FOOTBALL

Indiana beat Michigan 13-6 in overtime at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday after Josh Hoover scored on a four-yard run. The sixth-ranked Hoosiers then stopped the Wolverines on their overtime possession, keeping them out of the end zone. The result gave Indiana its first win at Michigan Stadium since 1967. It also handed Michigan its third loss of the season. Michigan had forced overtime with a 26-yard field goal as regulation time expired.

Tommy Carr started at quarterback for Michigan while Bryce Underwood sat out. Carr lost a fumble on a pitch in the first quarter and threw an interception in the second half. He took sacks in the second and third quarters that led to missed field goals, including a 32-yard attempt after Michigan advanced to Indiana’s one-yard line. In the final minute of regulation, Michigan reached Indiana’s three-yard line before Carr took his fourth sack. Carr had come off the bench the previous week to help Michigan beat Penn State.

Michigan won the College Football Playoff national championship three seasons earlier. Indiana kicker Paddy McAteer missed a field goal at the end of the first half. Indiana coach Curt Cignetti had considered replacing Hoover because of injuries but kept him in the game instead of turning to a seventh-year backup. The victory prevented the defending national champions from losing consecutive games for the first time in three years under Cignetti.
