KAZUO ISHIGURO ANNOUNCES NEW NOVEL FOR MARCH PUBLICATION
Kazuo Ishiguro will publish a new novel in March next year, his first since 2021. The work, titled Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger, is a spy caper set in 1938 England. Faber will publish the novel in the UK, whilst Penguin's Alfred A Knopf will handle the US release. The narrative follows Richard Hadley as he encounters the enigmatic Miss Lambert and travels with her from a hotel in Devon to a Scotland-bound train.
Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger marks Ishiguro's ninth novel. The author drew inspiration from his love of music, art and Golden Age cinema in writing the work. Ishiguro, born in Japan and raised in Britain from age five, previously authored The Remains of the Day, which won the Booker Prize in 1989, and Never Let Me Go. His most recent publication was The Summer We Crossed Europe in the Rain, a collection of song lyrics written for American jazz singer Stacey Kent.
An adaptation of Ishiguro's 2021 novel Klara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams, will release this October. Previous film adaptations of his work include A Pale View of Hills, released in 2025, Never Let Me Go from 2010 and The Remains of the Day from 1993. The announcement marks a significant return to full-length fiction for the Nobel laureate after several years focused on other creative projects.
