YUM! BRANDS SELLS PIZZA HUT TO LONGRANGE CAPITAL FOR £2.7BN

Yum! Brands has agreed to sell Pizza Hut to private equity firm LongRange Capital for $2.7 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter. The sale concludes a period of sustained difficulties for the pizza chain under Yum! ownership.

Yum! Brands operates multiple restaurant chains, including Taco Bell and KFC, which have performed better than Pizza Hut in recent years. Following the sale, the company intends to concentrate its resources on these higher-performing divisions. LongRange Capital will assume full operational control of the Pizza Hut brand upon completion of the deal.

The transaction represents a significant portfolio restructuring for Yum! Brands, allowing the parent company to divest an underperforming asset whilst maintaining focus on its core growth brands. The sale demonstrates continued consolidation within the quick-service restaurant sector, with private equity firms acquiring struggling chains from larger conglomerates.
