TWO JAILED FOR FIREBOMBING ORDERED BY DUBAI-BASED GANG BOSS
Richard Ordish and Kurtis Young have been sentenced to prison following a firebombing attack on a house in Edinburgh. The attack occurred in the early hours of 4 April 2025 at a semi-detached property. Both men were captured on camera during the incident, which caused substantial damage to the building. They subsequently visited Young's partner's home whilst smelling of petrol and made a telephone call to the United Arab Emirates to confirm the attack had been completed. Both men pleaded guilty to attempted murder at the High Court in Glasgow.
Ordish, aged 19, received a seven-year sentence whilst Young, aged 42, was given an extended 11-year prison term. Both men will remain under supervision for four years following their release. Young received the longer sentence due to his established criminal history, whilst sentencing guidelines for young persons applied to Ordish. The court heard that before the attack, the two men purchased fuel cans from a garage, obtained a taxi to collect a motorbike, and rode to the targeted address. Young threw an ignited object through a ground floor window whilst Ordish waited on the motorbike, causing a bright flash as the fire ignited.
Judge Lord Arthurson described the attack as "wholly murderous" with a "very real threat to kill" and characterised it as a "callous, concerted and tragic crime" committed during an escalating organised crime gang war. The arrests followed Operation Portaledge, an investigation into violence across central Scotland. The judge stated the men acted under instruction for financial payment.
