CBS NEWS FIRES SCOTT PELLEY FROM 60 MINUTES

CBS News has dismissed correspondent Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes. Pelley stated that CBS ordered him to include falsehoods and bias in his work. His departure follows a clash involving journalist Bari Weiss. The firing marks the end of Pelley's tenure at one of American television's longest-running news programs.

Pelley is a veteran correspondent who has worked at CBS News for decades, including a period as anchor of the CBS Evening News. The conflict with Bari Weiss preceded his dismissal from 60 Minutes. Pelley publicly attributed his firing to editorial demands he described as requiring falsehoods and bias. CBS News has not, per available sourcing, issued a detailed public response to Pelley's characterisation of events.

Pelley's dismissal raises questions about editorial direction at CBS News and 60 Minutes specifically. The program has operated since 1968 and holds a prominent place in American broadcast journalism. Pelley's public statements about the circumstances of his firing place his exit on the record as disputed. No confirmed next steps regarding his career or CBS's editorial plans have been reported.
