SARA COX LAUNCHES RADIO 2 BREAKFAST SHOW ON JULY 6

MON 15 JUN 2026

Sara Cox will launch her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on 6 July, the presenter announced on Monday. Tom Hanks will appear as her first guest on the programme, which begins at 6:30 am. Cox made the announcement whilst appearing on Vernon Kay's Radio 2 show. She described herself as "very, very excited" about the launch.

Cox replaces Scott Mills on the breakfast slot. The new programme will feature a "fresh new format" incorporating favourite elements from her previous teatime show on the station. Hanks, who appears in Toy Story 5, is an Academy Award winner. Cox stated she "cannot wait" to speak with the actor during their interview.

The breakfast show represents a significant scheduling change for BBC Radio 2's morning output. Cox's move to the breakfast slot follows her tenure hosting the teatime programme. The launch occurs three weeks after her Monday announcement on air.
