SALESFORCE ACQUIRES FIN FOR $3.6 BILLION
Salesforce has agreed to purchase Fin, an artificial intelligence customer support specialist, for $3.6 billion. The definitive agreement was announced on Monday, with the transaction expected to close during the fourth quarter of Salesforce's fiscal 2027. Fin's primary product is an AI customer service agent designed to manage support requests across multiple platforms including live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, Slack, and phone.
Fin operates its AI system using a proprietary model called Apex, built specifically for customer support tasks. The company serves more than 30,000 organisations worldwide. Salesforce reported that Fin's AI agents resolve an average of 76 per cent of support requests without requiring human intervention. Fin previously raised $250 million in debt funding in March. Eoghan McCabe, Fin's chief executive and co-founder, stated that joining Salesforce would enable the company to deploy its technology at significantly larger scale than it could achieve independently.
The acquisition strengthens Salesforce's Agentforce division, the company's flagship artificial intelligence initiative. Salesforce announced that Agentforce reached $1.2 billion in annual recurring revenue during the first quarter of fiscal 2027, representing a 205 per cent increase year over year. Marc Benioff, Salesforce CEO, said the acquisition would add proven agent technology and capabilities to complement Agentforce's existing service offerings.
