POLICE SEARCH CANAL FOR MISSING DOG WALKER IN RADCLIFFE
Police have deployed an underwater search team to find Anthony, who went missing while walking his dog in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester. Officers said they last saw Anthony near the Royal Oak pub on Water Street at around 4pm on Sunday, November 1. His dog turned up alone several hours later near the junction of Higher Ainsworth Road and Bury and Bolton Road, according to police. The force has issued a third appeal for information about his whereabouts.
Police described Anthony’s clothing when he disappeared as a blue puffer coat and blue jeans. Officers believe he may have taken a canal path behind the Royal Oak pub. The junction where his dog turned up lies roughly a mile from the pub. Police have released a photograph of the red and white lead they believe Anthony used during the walk.
Detective Inspector Steven Horton said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Anthony’s welfare and officers are working alongside our partners, including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as we continue our search.” Specialist teams are searching canal areas near Anthony’s last known location, police said. Horton urged people familiar with the surrounding area, including regular users of the route, to remain vigilant and provide any information. He said officers had not found the lead and asked anyone who finds it, or thinks they have seen it, to call 101 or report online.
