TAYLOR SWIFT REVEALS NAPOLEON DYNAMITE VOICE HABIT WITH FRIEND
Taylor Swift said she and her best friend, Abigail Anderson, still talk to each other in voices from the film Napoleon Dynamite, calling it a "weird and silly" habit their husbands "have to put up with". She made the comment during a question-and-answer session after a New York City screening of Toy Story 5 on Sunday 1 November, alongside director Andrew Stanton. Swift's husband is the NFL player Travis Kelce. Swift said she related the habit to the friendship in Toy Story 5 between the character Bonnie and a new character, Blaze.
Swift provided the soundtrack for Toy Story 5 with her song "I Knew It, I Knew You", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She recalled meeting Anderson after moving to Nashville as a teenager, describing the uncertainty of working out "who to be friends with" as the new girl at school. "There was one girl named Abigail — she even has curly hair like Blaze — and the two of us, all we wanted to do was talk in Napoleon Dynamite voices," she said. Blaze is voiced by Mykal-Michelle Harris, while Bonnie is voiced by Scarlett Spears. Swift said she and Anderson "still do this" years later.
Swift released her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on 3 October 2025. Fans identified multiple references to Kelce on the record, including on its opening track, "The Fate of Ophelia". Footage of Swift's comments on her friendship with Anderson was shared online in a video posted on the social media platform X. The New York City event brought Swift and Stanton together to discuss the film's themes of friendship.
