GLASGOW COUNCIL REJECTS BEER BAN EXEMPTION FOR METALLICA GIG
Glasgow City Council has rejected a proposal to exempt Metallica's concert from the city's alcohol ban in public spaces. The heavy metal band is scheduled to perform at Hampden Park on 25 June. The council's decision means the existing ban on alcohol in outdoor public areas will remain in effect during the event.
The exemption had been proposed as a trial arrangement specifically for the Metallica gig at the Glasgow venue. Council officials considered whether to allow alcohol sales in designated areas during the concert. The proposal would have permitted beer and other alcoholic beverages to be consumed in spaces where they are ordinarily prohibited under the city's public place order.
The council's rejection upholds Glasgow's alcohol management policies across all public venues and events. Hampden Park will operate under the same restrictions as other outdoor public spaces in the city. No alternative arrangements have been confirmed for the concert on 25 June.
