RAIDERS END FOUR-GAME LOSING STREAK WITH WIN OVER JETS
The Las Vegas Raiders beat the New York Jets 38-33 at MetLife Stadium on 1 November, ending a four-game losing streak and moving to 4-4. Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Raiders overturned a nine-point halftime deficit. Cousins completed 19 of 26 passes for 247 yards and a passer rating of 141.0. Maxx Crosby said afterwards: "It's great to win. Awesome. Great testament to the guys in the locker room responding after being down nine at halftime and stepping up to the plate."
Cousins' third touchdown pass, to Jalen Nailor with 11 minutes 33 seconds left, put the Raiders ahead 35-30. The Jets drove to the Raiders' 13-yard line on the next possession, but the defence forced a stop, limiting Jason Sanders to his fourth field goal of the day. Matt Gay then kicked a 53-yard field goal with 27 seconds left after the Jets stopped the Raiders on third down. A penalty on a catch by Garrett Wilson put the Jets into Raiders territory on the final drive, before a pass from Smith aimed at the end zone was intercepted by Jeremy Chinn to end the game.
Crosby credited the response to a message at halftime, saying: "At some point, it really comes down to winning one-on-ones and outworking the man in front of you." The Jets had also lost at MetLife Stadium a week earlier, beaten by the Miami Dolphins. Two of Sanders' field goals came on drives that reached the red zone without producing a touchdown. At 4-4, the Raiders are next scheduled to travel to face the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium in Week 9.
