UCONN EXTENDS DAN HURLEY'S CONTRACT THROUGH 2032
The University of Connecticut announced on Friday that men's basketball head coach Dan Hurley had signed a two-year contract extension through the 2031-32 season. The new six-year deal replaces a contract signed in 2024 that had four years remaining. UConn said the existing terms will continue. Athletics director David Benedict said the agreement would provide continuity as the programme seeks to compete at the highest level.
Hurley is entering his ninth season in Storrs and has a 199-75 record at UConn, according to the university. He led the Huskies to national titles in 2023 and 2024, becoming the first coach in the programme's history to win consecutive championships. UConn reached the national title game again in 2026. University figures put the team's record since the 2022-23 season at 126-28 and Hurley's NCAA Tournament record across 16 years as a college head coach at 20-6. During his tenure, 12 UConn players have reached the NBA, including seven first-round selections and four lottery picks.
Hurley said it was “an incredible honour to coach the game I love” at UConn and spoke of the university community's importance to his family. Benedict said UConn was “thrilled to keep him home at UConn for the next six years”. The Huskies are due to open their 2026-27 regular season against Gardner-Webb at PeoplesBank Arena on Monday night. Hurley will enter that game seeking his 200th win with UConn.
