ALLIANZ SECURES NAMING RIGHTS TO LA28 BEACH ARENA

THU 29 OCT 2026 RUGBY

Allianz has secured naming rights to a temporary arena in Long Beach, California, for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The International Olympic Committee says the agreement marks the first time an Olympic competition venue will carry a commercial partner’s name. The waterfront Allianz Beach Arena will host Olympic beach volleyball and Paralympic blind football. Allianz estimates that the arena will seat nearly 15,000 people and welcome about 735,000 spectators across both competitions.

The programme includes 39 beach volleyball matches, with two medal events, and 10 blind football matches, with one medal event. The arena becomes the eighth member of Allianz’s stadium network, which began with the Allianz Arena in Munich in 2005. Its other venues are in Twickenham, Sydney, Nice, Vienna, Turin and St Paul, Minnesota. Allianz says those seven existing venues collectively attract around 10 million visitors each year.

Allianz is a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, and its agreement runs through the Brisbane 2032 Games. Eike Bürgel, Allianz’s Global Head of Olympic and Paralympic Program, said: “For the first time, two of Allianz’s major sports initiatives – the Allianz Family of Stadiums and our Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic partnership – come together in one venue that proudly bears the Allianz name.” Bürgel said beach volleyball broke attendance records at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. LA28 expects to sell approximately 14 million tickets across the Olympic and Paralympic Games in July and August 2028.
