CELTIC REPLACE HOGH AT HALF-TIME AGAINST DUNDEE UNITED

THU 29 OCT 2026 FOOTBALL

Celtic started Kasper Hogh against Dundee United on Wednesday, but Martin O'Neill replaced him at half-time. Hogh received an assist for Camilo Durán's goal and did not score himself. O'Neill had also substituted Hogh during Celtic's league win over Hibs on Sunday. Hogh has scored three goals in his first 14 Celtic appearances, all during a 45-minute spell against Kilmarnock in August. He has not scored for Celtic since that match.

Celtic paid £11m for Hogh, with add-ons that could increase the fee. Accounts differ on whether the fee already sets Celtic's transfer record or would do so if the add-ons are met. Before joining Celtic, Hogh played for Bodø/Glimt in Norway. Former Norway international and television pundit Carl-Erik Torp questioned Hogh's ability to play at the highest level, calling him “more of a Lada than a Lamborghini”. Hogh later scored twice against Manchester City in a European match.

O'Neill said this week that Hogh lacked confidence and needed a goal. Referring to a chance created by Callum Osmand, he said a confident Hogh might have converted it. “But, you have to fight through these things,” O'Neill said. He also said Celtic had competition for places and suggested Durán's best position was centre-forward. Celtic played Durán on the right against Dundee United while Hogh started up front.
