Cadillac Formula 1 Team has confirmed that Sergio Perez has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team until at least 2029. The announcement came ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Perez’s home race. Perez joined Cadillac for its first Formula 1 season in 2026 after spending 2025 away from the grid. “Joining Cadillac Formula 1 Team from day one was a project I truly believed in,” Perez said.

Perez’s best finishes this season have been 14th place at the Barcelona, British and Azerbaijan Grands Prix. The 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship standings list him 23rd. Perez is due to make his 300th Grand Prix start in Mexico City this weekend. Ahead of the race, he drove through the city on Paseo de la Reforma in a public demonstration run.

Perez said building a Formula 1 team from the ground up required “time, relentless work and patience”. He said he remained committed to Cadillac for the next three years. Dan Towriss, Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s chief executive, said the agreement gave the team continuity as it built on its first season. Perez thanked Towriss, Mark Reuss, TWG Motorsports and General Motors for the opportunity to continue with the team.
