COURT JAILS THREE MEN FOR ASSAULT ON CELTIC FAN
Glasgow Sheriff Court jailed Ben Stanex, Scott Dragsness and Andrew Graham on 28 October for assaulting Celtic supporter Bruce Craik outside Ibrox after an Old Firm match. The attack took place on 8 March 2026 as Craik helped fellow supporters board a bus. A group that included the three men directed a sectarian slur at Craik before Stanex punched him. Stanex repeatedly stamped on Craik’s head, while Dragsness and Graham kicked his body. Craik lost consciousness and suffered a bleed to the brain.
All three pleaded guilty to assault causing severe injury and danger to life. The court treated the offence as aggravated by prejudice related to religion or perceived religious affiliation. Sheriff Andrew McIntyre sentenced Stanex and Graham to one year in prison each. He sentenced Dragsness to 18 months, bringing the three prison terms to a total of three and a half years. McIntyre said the men had acted together in the assault after the match.
McIntyre also imposed seven-year football banning orders on each man. He told them: “Violence and football related violence is a serious cause for concern in this city.” He said the law treated violence driven by religious prejudice more seriously. McIntyre said the force of the attack had posed an “obvious danger to life”. He said prison was necessary to protect the public and deter further offending.
