JAKE HAGER UNDERGOES SECOND EYE SURGERY AFTER POWER SLAP FIGHT

WED 28 OCT 2026 BOXING

Jake Hager, who competes as Jack Swagger, has undergone a second eye operation after a Power Slap fight in September. Hager faced Johnny Magna at Power Slap 23 and began bleeding from his left eye after the contest. He underwent emergency surgery following the fight. Dana White, identified as the UFC’s chief executive, called it the “worst injury” in Power Slap history.

Hager joined Power Slap at the start of 2026 and won his debut against Devin “Big Jinxx” Jenkins by knockout. He signed with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2006 and later became its World Heavyweight Champion. Hager left WWE in 2017 to pursue mixed martial arts. He then joined Bellator MMA and competed in its heavyweight division. His Bellator record comprised three wins and one no-contest across four fights.

An update attributed to Hager’s fiancée, Patricia, said doctors had found a detached retina. Patricia said: “It was discovered this week that Jake had a detached retina.” Doctors operated to reattach it, according to the update. Patricia said doctors told them the operation went better than expected. Hager had continued to have problems with his eye after the first procedure.
