CHIEFS PLAN TO SIGN JUSTIN TUCKER TO PRACTICE SQUAD
The Kansas City Chiefs plan to sign former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad, according to journalists Ian Rapoport and Sam McDowell. Tucker has not joined an NFL roster or practice squad since Baltimore released him in May 2025. The proposed signing follows Kansas City’s 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, its first defeat of the 2026 season. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker made one of three field-goal attempts in that game. He converted from 50 yards and missed from 58 and 45 yards.
Tucker spent 13 seasons with the Ravens, won a Super Bowl and earned seven Pro Bowl selections. Baltimore released him after massage therapists accused him of sexual misconduct during appointments. Tucker denied the allegations, and no criminal charges were filed against him. The NFL suspended him for the first 10 games of the 2025 season under its Personal Conduct Policy. He subsequently tried out with the New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets without securing a deal.
Butker has made 11 of 16 field-goal attempts this season. Since the start of 2025, he has missed 10 field goals and five extra points. The Chiefs are seeking a return to the playoffs after failing to qualify last season. Tucker ranks 17th in NFL career points and second in career field-goal percentage, while Butker ranks fifth in field-goal percentage. Kansas City’s planned practice-squad deal would give Tucker his first place on an NFL team since his release.
